This document contains the Master Terms of Service, App-Specific Schedules, and the Unified Privacy Policy for 8fold, llc (d.b.a. Mastering the Mundane).
Part 1: Master Terms of Service
Welcome to the 8fold suite of productivity applications, which includes Time Journal, Possibilities, Relationships, and Distributions (collectively, the "Services").
By registering an account, subscribing to our services, or using our applications, you agree to these Terms of Service. These Terms form a binding legal contract between you ("User") and 8fold, llc (d.b.a. Mastering the Mundane), an Ohio limited liability company ("Company," "we," "us," or "our").
If you do not agree to these Terms, access to or use of our applications is not permitted.
1. Account Creation and Security
To use our Services, account registration is required.
Accurate Details: Account registration requires accurate, current, and complete information. Updating details promptly ensures uninterrupted service.
Security: Maintaining secure access to your email account and registered authenticators protects your account. Account holders remain responsible for activity under their credentials.
Unauthorized Access: If you suspect or know of unauthorized account use, notify us at support@mastering-the-mundane.com.
One Account per Paid Subscription: You may register multiple accounts using different email addresses, provided that each registered email address maintains its own separate, active monthly or annual subscription.
2. Subscription and Billing
Summary: Subscriptions renew automatically every month or year until canceled. You can cancel anytime in your account settings before your renewal date to prevent future charges. Subscriptions are non-refundable, but you keep full app access until your current billing period ends. When you lock in a tier price, that rate stays locked for as long as your subscription remains active.
Every account must subscribe to our mandatory base tier during registration. Accounts registered by active 8fold Practitioners are included with their 8fold Practitioner membership at no additional charge.
Billing Cycle: We bill your subscription in advance on a monthly or annual basis, according to the billing interval selected at checkout. We charge your payment method on file on the renewal date shown for your subscription.
Taxes and Currency: All fees are in U.S. Dollars and exclude applicable taxes. We calculate and add taxes to your invoice if required by law.
Subscription Tiers & Price Lock: Subscription rates are determined by global subscriber tiers at the time of checkout. Once subscribed, your rate remains locked for the lifetime of your active subscription. If a subscription is canceled or lapses, resubscribing is subject to the active tier rate at the time of checkout.
Automatic Renewal: Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each selected billing cycle. To prevent renewal, you must cancel your subscription in your account settings before your next renewal date.
Limited Seats & Waitlist: Each subscription tier has a capacity shared by its monthly and annual plans. New subscribers are offered the least expensive tier with an available seat. When all tiers are full, the subscribe page may offer a waitlist instead of checkout. We email people in oldest-first order when seats become available. A notice does not reserve a seat or guarantee a place in line. If you do not subscribe, your entry remains eligible for later notices. Entries are not removed for age until they have been on the waitlist for 24 months and receive a successful notice; each such notice starts a 90-day response window. Entries without a notice after 24 months remain on the waitlist.
Refunds: All fees are non-refundable except as required by law. If you cancel your subscription, you retain access to the Service until the end of your paid billing cycle. You will not receive a prorated refund for unused days.
After Your Paid Period Ends: Once your paid billing cycle ends (whether from cancellation or a lapsed payment), your access to the applications ends. You can still sign in and visit your account page to manage or restart your subscription until account deletion, but the applications themselves will be unavailable until you resubscribe.
3. Service Email
By creating an account and accepting these terms, you agree to receive essential service email from us.

Promotional deals and offers (promotions@mastering-the-mundane.com)
4. Acceptable Use
To protect platform security and integrity, users agree not to:
Reverse engineer, decompile, or copy any portion of our software code or design.
Rent, lease, lend, sell, or distribute access to our applications to third parties.
Upload, transmit, or distribute any viruses, malware, or harmful digital code.
Use our applications to send unsolicited emails, spam, or promotional material.

We retain all legal rights, titles, and interests in and to our applications, including all source code, software, designs, trademarks, logos, and database architectures. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access and use our applications for your personal use during your paid subscription.
Data Ownership: Your data belongs exclusively to you. You grant us only the limited technical permissions required to host, store, and display your content while your subscription is active.
No AI/ML Model Training: We do not train artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) models on your content. We will never access or inspect your data for our own business purposes.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
We provide our applications on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. This includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that our applications will operate without interruption, be entirely error-free, or remain completely secure. You use our Services at your own risk.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Ohio law, 8fold, llc (d.b.a. Mastering the Mundane) and its officers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. This includes losses of profits, revenues, business opportunities, or user data.
Our total cumulative liability for all claims arising out of or relating to this agreement will not exceed the total subscription fees you paid to us in the twelve (12) months immediately before the event that caused the claim.
8. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
Summary: We resolve disputes through binding individual arbitration instead of court trials. You have the right to opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of creating your account by emailing legal@mastering-the-mundane.com.
You and 8fold, llc (d.b.a. Mastering the Mundane) agree to resolve all disputes through binding individual arbitration instead of lawsuits in court.
Class Action Waiver: You and 8fold, llc (d.b.a. Mastering the Mundane) waive any right to bring disputes as a class action or representative proceeding.
Opt-Out: You may opt out of this arbitration agreement and class action waiver within thirty (30) days of creating your account. To opt out, send a written email notice to legal@mastering-the-mundane.com with your name and registered account email, stating your clear decision to opt out.
Governing Law and Venue: The laws of the State of Ohio govern these terms. If you opt out of arbitration, you agree to file any legal action exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Stark County, Ohio.
9. Termination
You may terminate your account and subscription at any time through your account settings.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these terms, fail to pay your subscription fees, or engage in fraudulent or illegal activity. Upon termination, your license to use our applications ends immediately, and we will permanently delete your account and data.
Part 2: App-Specific Schedules
These schedules apply only when you register for, access, or use the specific applications listed below.
Schedule A: Time Journal
This schedule governs your use of the Time Journal application.
Behavioral Records: The application logs your habits, daily routines, and time allocations. You retain ownership of this behavioral data.
Platform Security: We protect your habit logs during transmission using industry-standard secure connection protocols (HTTPS/TLS), and habit entries are protected by robust logical access controls at rest. We do not analyze, inspect, or profile your routines.
Schedule B: Relationships (Self & Others)
This schedule governs your use of the Relationships application.
Self-Reflection & Relational Records: The application enables personal tracking across two foundational areas:
The Self: Personal grounding records, including The Character Sheet (Values, Principles, Practices, and Tools) and The Motivators & 5Ps framework.
The Rotation: Stay-in-touch cadences, interaction history, and communication channels for key contacts.
Data Minimization & PII Exclusion: To protect personal privacy and minimize data liability, the application intentionally excludes third-party personally identifiable information (PII) such as phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, or imported device contact books. Users retain full ownership of all self-reflection entries and contact aliases.
Schedule C: Possibilities
This schedule governs your use of the Possibilities application.
Device Permissions: The application may request permission to send you push notifications or sync with your device calendar. You may grant or revoke these permissions at any time through your device, browser, or operating system settings.
Notification Reliability: Reminders and calendar events rely on external telecommunication networks and device operating systems. We are not liable for any missed reminders or scheduling delays caused by factors outside our platform control.
Schedule D: Distributions
This schedule governs your use of the Distributions application.
No Financial or Investment Advice: The Distributions application is an informational, self-directed tracking tool only. 8fold, llc (d.b.a. Mastering the Mundane) is not a registered investment advisor, broker, or financial fiduciary. All calculations, net worth charts, and cash flow projections are automated estimates and do not guarantee future performance. Consult a certified financial planner, CPA, or tax professional before making financial decisions.
Future Financial Integrations: We do not link direct bank accounts or use third-party financial aggregators at this time. If we introduce direct bank aggregation or payment services in the future as an up-charge, your use of those services will be optional. Those optional services will require explicit re-authorization and will be subject to supplementary security, privacy, and third-party terms.
Part 3: Unified Privacy Policy
At 8fold, llc (d.b.a. Mastering the Mundane), we prioritize your privacy and safeguard your personal data. We implement industry-standard encryption and security controls to ensure your information remains confidential.
1. Personal Data We Collect
We collect only the minimum personal data necessary to provide you with our Services.
Universal Suite (MTM Database):
Categories: Email address (stored encrypted at rest), encrypted third-party payment processor customer tokens (such as Stripe IDs), and basic account state details.
Mechanism: Account registration screens.
Purpose: Managing your user account, validating subscription state, and maintaining platform security.
Subscription Waitlist (Pre-registration):
Categories: Email address.
Mechanism: The waitlist form shown on the subscribe page when subscriptions are at capacity.
Purpose: Sending oldest-first notices when subscription seats become available. A notice does not reserve a seat. Waitlist emails are stored encrypted and retained after a notice if you do not subscribe. Entries are not removed for age until they have been listed for 24 months and receive a successful notice; each such notice starts a 90-day response window. Entries without a notice after 24 months remain eligible. An entry is also removed after the matching email successfully subscribes and account registration completes.
Payment Processing (Stripe - Secure Third-Party):
Categories: Name on card, billing address, and credit/debit card numbers. (Note: These raw details are processed directly by Stripe under their own terms. MTM does not store or have access to raw payment card details on our servers. See the Stripe Privacy Policy for details.)
Mechanism: Checkout screens and secure Stripe Elements checkout flows.
Purpose: Executing transaction processing and managing your monthly or annual subscription.
Time Journal: Activity descriptions, daily routines, time duration metrics, and progress logs entered directly by the user.
Relationships (Self & Others): Personal values, motivators, contact aliases, and stay-in-touch cadences entered directly by the user. Third-party PII is intentionally excluded.
Possibilities: Future activity lists, project notes, deadlines, and push notification tokens entered directly by the user.
Distributions: User-entered financial asset classes, manual balance inputs, and cash flow categories entered directly by the user.
2. Data Sovereignty & User Privacy Rights
We believe your data belongs exclusively to you.
Data Protection Guarantees: We never sell, rent, or lease your personal data to marketers, advertisers, or third parties. We do not use your content or activity logs to train artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) models.
User Data Rights: You have the right to access, correct, or request the complete deletion of your personal data at any time.
Exercising Your Rights: You can delete your account and associated data directly in your account settings, or by emailing our privacy team at privacy@mastering-the-mundane.com. We will verify your identity using your registered account email and fulfill your request within thirty (30) days.
3. Data Retention and Deletion (The Inactivity Deletion Schedule)
We minimize data retention to safeguard your privacy and uphold user data sovereignty:
24-Month Inactivity Account Purge: Accounts with an active subscription or 8fold Practitioner membership are not deleted for inactivity. After that access ends, an account is considered inactive after 24 consecutive months without a sign-in or app use, measured from the later of the last paid period's end and the last sign-in or use. We delete inactive accounts and purge their data from active databases within 30 days.
Immediate Deletion Upon Request: When you delete your account, we purge your data from our active databases immediately.
Backup Copies: Our database host currently creates daily backups for recovery. We remove requested account data from active databases immediately, but copies may remain in backups. DreamHost cannot guarantee how long deleted data remains in all backup or recovery copies; its general restoration window of up to five days is not a maximum retention period. Restoring a backup may bring back records deleted after it was created. If that happens, we are responsible for removing those records again. See DreamHost's database backup and restoration documentation (opens in a new tab).
Waitlist Retention: Waitlist entries younger than 24 months are retained regardless of notice history. At or after 24 months, an entry is removed only after a successful seat-opening notice and a 90-day response window; each later notice resets that window. Entries that have not received a notice after reaching 24 months remain eligible and are not removed by this age-based purge.
4. Technical Security Safeguards
We protect your personal data using administrative and technical safeguards:
Encryption in Transit and at Rest: All web traffic and user data are encrypted in transit over external networks using HTTPS/TLS 1.3. Stripe customer tokens are secured using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256) application-level encryption. Sign-in links use single-use hashed tokens.
Logical Access Controls: Database access is restricted to authorized systems and senior technical personnel performing necessary maintenance, customer support, or debugging.
Production Integrity: Staging and development environments are completely isolated from live customer databases.
5. International Data Transfers
Our primary servers are located in the United States. If you access our applications from outside the United States, your personal data will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States under standard security and privacy protections.
